Southern Swimming Pool is proud to announce the launch of Community Splash, a new initiative offering free swimming for children. This programme is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust (Charity No. 337).
Eligible children attend Arbory, Ballasalla, Rushen, Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey, Victoria Road, and The Buchan primary schools. Community Splash is available to pupils in Reception through to Year 3.
Children under eight must be accompanied in the water by an adult aged 16 or over. By providing a free pass card, the initiative eases financial pressure on families while encouraging children to gain confidence and enjoy the water.
Community Splash will run from 28th June 2025 until 31st August 2026. The programme’s success will be assessed through attendance figures, with potential for continued sponsorship beyond the initial period.
The Southern Swimming Pool Board extends their sincere thanks to the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust for making this initiative possible.
Laurence Vaughan-Williams, the Chair of the Board, said:
“This is a most worthy initiative, and we are grateful to Mr Juan Watterson and the Southern Authorities Healthcare Trust for their sponsorship. This acknowledges the relevance of the Southern Swimming Pool to the wider community and will encourage children and their families to make use of this facility.”
This initiative aligns with the Trust’s mission:
“Supporting the physical and mental health of people in the South of the Isle of Man.”
